Today Jones Homeschool Academy “travelled” to Whitman, Massachusetts to learn about the history of the chocolate chip cookie. Fun Facts: -During the 1930s, a chef named Ruth Graves Wakefield decided to give something different to her customers. -She owned a restaurant called The Toll House Inn located in Whitman, Massachusetts. -The chocolate chip cookie has even more significance in Massachusetts, where it all began. On July 9, 1997, the chocolate chip cookie became the official cookie of Massachusetts. -The idea was proposed by a 3rd grade class in Somerset, Massachusetts. -Now, people also celebrate the cookie on National Chocolate Chip Cookie day, each year on August 4.
