Once upon a time we purchased the Academy course for Geocaching, downloaded the app, learned all the things and set out multiple times to embark on adventures. Well, it was a big flop… every time. Lol! Geocaching was not yet a thing in our area, and little did we know, we were just slightly ahead of our time. Haha Well, this week I lost my voice somehow and felt totally crummy, but when mom’s are sick we don’t exactly get a full sick day. We just kinda pivot. Welcome to our homeschool pivot: Geocaching! My girls had a blast revisiting this hunting adventure. We paired it with a “Resurrection Scavenger Hunt” and went to four different locations to find clues. It took a total of maybe 45 minutes, the girls successfully found 3/4 of their geocache clues, and learned about the Gospel along the way. I sat in the car, sipping hot tea, cheering them on with the windows rolled down. Ha! This is totally normal, right? Lol! I think this was a successful sick day. We even came home to snuggle and complete Math and Language Lessons. Master Books makes homeschooling amongst real life so easy. Thank you, Jesus! 🙌🏼 #geocaching If you’ve purchased an Academy course, and didn’t get to use it to its full potential- take heart! If the course has since expired, but the interest has resumed, remember curriculum is just a tool. The learning can continue, and you can revisit the concept: piano, Spanish, guitar, geocaching, sign language… whatever it is. MB has great Academy courses available for a generous length of time. But if you can’t use it during the time, and don’t repurchase, don’t sweat it. Get back to it. Perhaps it’s to plant a seed, to spark a flame, or to spread the Good News. Have fun with your students, pivot when necessary, and it’s okay to revisit something that wasn’t working years ago. It may just be the right timing now to meet a need or encourage adventuring. Go for it! “Resurrection Scavenger Hunt” - Something Black = Our Sin - Two sticks = The cross - Something red = Jesus blood - A rock = The tomb - 3 of something = 3 days in the tomb - Something empty = “He is not here, He is risen.” Matthew 28:6 - Something white = clean heart - Something green = grow in Christ - Something new = “The old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17🌱☀️
