I posted this in the Community group but thought I’d post it here too. I’m beginning to homeschool our youngest 2 boys this fall. Chronologically they will be in 9th & 10th grade but the youngest has some significant delays and in reality, will probably never be able to live and work independently. We have 9 adopted children, 8 of them adopted out of foster care. I began homeschooling in 1990 and homeschooled through 2008 when our first batch of kids all finished school. I homeschooled my grandson from 2011-2016 when he went to public high school. Our three youngest boys have been in public school, first because they were foster children and then because I had some significant health challenges for several years. We have become convicted that they are receiving the wrong ideas about worldview and in particular, manhood. (My husband is a bi-vocational pastor.) All of that was introduction. I know that we can do World History and Biology together with modified expectations of my youngest. I’m not sure what to do about Math and English. My older boy is ready for Algebra 1 but as far as English has neurological disconnect that makes writing hard for him. (Both boys were exposed to substance abuse in utero.) Does any one have experience or advice for this situation? The younger boy just started working on 3rd grade math at school this year and can read with comprehension at a 5th grade level.
